  • “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;  “I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”
       Matthew 25:35-36

  • “…the Lord has anointed Me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent Me to comfort the broken-hearted,to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind.”

Isaiah 61:1

Our vision

Our vision is that Fig Tree Haven evolves into a caring, loving community, centered on the homeless and others in need. We will be a family of friends in a community of care. As a family we will help each other with healing, wholeness and love. Work is healing and therapeutic. With rare exception all able bodied individuals will be expected to work or to do volunteer service. Sharing includes everyone, even the needy. Work will provide the participants with a sense of purpose and instill in them an appreciation for their home and their community.

Those that seek refuge at the Fig Tree Haven will come with many various needs. For these needs we will engage professional assistance and referral when necessary. Efforts will be made to heal the hurts of the participants and of the extended families in the hope of reconciliation with extended families and friends for future success.

Each participant will be considered for a wide range of therapies that will include diet, exercise, arts, crafts, drama and music. The homeless and jobless will be assisted in transitioning back into the community and workforce.

The final component of Fig Tree Haven will be spiritual wholeness. With a nondenominational emphasis Fig Tree Haven be very inclusive of all God centered groups and beliefs. Through daily contact with volunteers and staff, participants will be exposed to the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. Also available will be Christian teaching (ecumenical and inclusive) bible studies, church activities and services for the homeless such as, communion, baptism, prayer, marriage, counseling and burial.

Fig Tree Haven will also consider creative entrepreneurial ways to generate work, jobs and revenue for the day shelter and other worthwhile projects. Donations of clothes furniture, cars, boats and other items will also generate funds and jobs.
